The Whole Family Of B Vitamin – Get To Know Them!

The family of Vitamin B is actually quite large. Like most things, each of them is different and is essential for different processes. From your blood supply to your heart and brain, just about every organ and process within your body requires a form of Vitamin B to function properly.

The whole family of Vitamin B can be seen below. So take a look at why these vitamins are important and how they benefit your body in different ways.

  • The B1 Vitamin (also known as Thiamin) is what your body needs to keep all of its cells and nerves functioning properly. It's also one of the vitamins that helps your body convert food into energy. And on top of all that, this particular B Vitamin is also important for good memory and general mental health.
  • The B2 Vitamin (also known as Riboflavin), is the B Vitamin that is essential for releasing the energy from food that has been consumed. Without this particular B Vitamin, the body cannot grow or develop properly as red blood cells will not be as healthy as they should be.
  • The B3 Vitamin (also known as Niacin) is also a must as it is involved in over 50 different processes that range from detoxifying chemicals (to make hormones) and releasing energy from food.
  • The B5 Vitamin (also known as Pantothenic acid) works with several other B vitamins for a number of essential processes. These processes include the breaking down of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates into energy. It is also this vitamin that is needed to form vitamin D, a variety of hormones, and red blood cells.
  • The B6 Vitamin (also known as Pyridoxine) is the vitamin that's responsible for redistributing the amino acids to create over five thousand proteins that are needed by the body. It's also one of the B vitamins needed to form various enzymes.
  • The B7 Vitamin (also known as Biotin) is also involved in a number of processes in your body. It helps the body to break down the fats, carbohydrates and proteins into usable energy forms.
  • One of the more famous vitamin B, B9 Vitamin (or folic acid) is essential for cell growth and division. This is especially so during pregnancy and explains why women are required to take certain vitamin supplements during this period of time. The B9 Vitamin is also necessary to make natural chemicals which control the appetite, moods and quality of sleep. It is also the best B Vitamin to lower the probability of suffering a heart attack or stroke by keeping the arteries open.
  • Lastly, we have the B12 Vitamin (also known as Cobalamin). This is one of the B vitamins that are important in converting the carbohydrates, proteins, and fats into energy. This particular Vitamin B is also vital in forming the protective covering of nerve cells and to keep red blood cells healthy, and help prevent heart disease.
